DAY6 (Even Of Day) Discusses Choosing A Vintage Sound And Highlights Memorable Moments From Their Career

DAY6 (Even Of Day) Talks About Going For A Vintage Sound + Picks Memorable Moments Of Their Career

On July 6, DAY6 (Even of Day) held an online press showcase for the release of their second mini album “Right Through Me.”

The album’s title tune, “Right Through Me,” has a 90s vibe to it. “There’s definitely a different kind of appeal to the sound in the 1990s compared to now,” the band said. Certain sensations, like a perfume that brings back memories, can only be felt with 90s music. Having said that, we didn’t make the album’s theme 90s music. We wanted a classic sound, but it came out sounding like 90s music.”

Young K said, “I recently had a phone call with a My Day [DAY6’s fandom name] on my live radio show and they said, ‘Young K is a person too, so it’s okay if you’re having a hard time,’ when asked if they could think of any moments in their lives that went “right through them,” like the title of their new song.” That moment, I believe, will stay with me for a long time.”

“We started in Seoul and went to a lot of other countries,” Wonpil said of their second globe tour. I miss being able to perform at such a high level. It’s a little disappointing to do stuff like this online. I’m hoping that after COVID-19 is through, we’ll be able to meet fans at the concert hall.”

Dowoon said, “DAY6 itself is my moment. It’s where I spent my youthful 20s, and it’s been the biggest influence in who I am today.”

“The tagline ‘you can have faith in listening to them’ is not something we made, or something we can judge for ourselves,” Young K remarked of crafting music that people appreciate. We simply attempt to do our best in creating wonderful music for everyone to enjoy. It’s critical that those who are listening to the music appreciate it.”

“I didn’t write our new song myself,” Dowoon explained, “but after watching the process and seeing the result, I felt that we could keep that catchy sound going.” On the CD, there are a lot of good songs.”

Young K continued, “I think that it would be difficult to pin down an exact color for DAY6. The same song will change color depending on who is singing it. I think that when we write songs and sing them, our innate color comes out in them. But the time and situation of the person listening to it is also important. We try to put universal emotions in our music without rendering them too easily. We want to live with a sense of perspective.”

Wonpil added, “When we make songs, we talk a lot about how to express what we want through music. I think that our own kind of music comes out through that process. That’s what becomes DAY6’s color.”

About promoting during the ongoing pandemic, Young K said, “One of the most precious moments for DAY6 was being able to perform with My Day. Not being able to do that has had a big influence on us. However, we’re always working to find other ways to be together.”

Dowoon said, “Since it became difficult to perform, we got a lot of time to ourselves. It made me think that I needed to develop myself.”

Young K concluded, “We want to give a lot of people love and happiness through this album and this promotional cycle. Apart from what we can give through music, we want to make people smile. We hope that we can be a little bit of help in people’s daily lives.”
