BLACKPINK‘s Jennie has once again created a record on Spotify, the world’s largest music platform.

On June 30th, YG Entertainment announced that Jennie’s single “SOLO” had topped 300 million Spotify streams. This is the first time a song by a solo South Korean artist has surpassed 300 million Spotify streams. In October of last year, Jennie’s “SOLO” beat Psy’s “Gangnam Style” to become the most streamed song by a South Korean solo artist. Adding to this, Jennie has broken another another record, becoming the first Korean solo artist to achieve 300 million streams.

Jennie was the first BLACKPINK member to release a solo album, “SOLO,” in November 2018. “SOLO” was acclaimed for its lovely opening instrumentals, simple melody line, and Jennie’s plain and honest words, which emphasized confidence rather than grief following a breakup.

Jennie’s global influence was great with the release of her solo track. “SOLO” topped the real-time, daily, and weekly charts of major music sites in South Korea almost immediately after its release. Jennie also charted in the top ten in the US iTunes charts and topped the iTunes charts in 40 different countries.

Meanwhile, ‘BLACKPINK THE MOVIE’ is set to hit theaters throughout the world, and BLACKPINK has announced the ‘4+1 PROJECT,’ a special 5th anniversary celebration.
