Lee Ji Ah made a surprising reappearance at the end of SBS’s “The Penthouse 2” on March 6, resulting in a dramatic cliffhanger.
About the fact that several news outlets said Lee Ji Ah had joined her “The Penthouse” co-stars for Season 2 shooting, SBS never confirmed the reports, only opting to tease audiences to tune in to the drama to see for themselves. Many fans have believed that, despite the fact that Lee Ji Ah’s character Shim Soo Ryeon was ostensibly assassinated by Joo Dan Te (Uhm Ki Joon) in the season finale, she would return in Season 2 after announcing that she had staged her death.
The sixth episode of “The Penthouse 2” finished with the surprising appearance of a stylishly dressed Lee Ji Ah in this flurry of speculation and fan theories. With her face hidden from view, Lee Ji Ah’s enigmatic character entered Joo Dan Te’s opulent penthouse apartment alone and waited for him to find her. When Joo Dan Te approached her from behind and asked who she was, she abruptly turned around to expose her true identity, prompting him to shout, “Shim Soo Ryeon?”
Lee Ji Ah’s character then approached Joo Dan Te and kissed him passionately. “Have you been doing well?” she asked, smiling as he pulled her backward in fear and panic. ” Joo Dan Te, it’s been a long time.”
Some audiences believe Lee Ji Ah is playing Na Ae Gyo, the mysterious birth mother of twins Joo Seok Kyung (Han Ji Hyun) and Joo Seok Hoon (Kim Young Dae), who can be recognized by her signature butterfly tattoo, on the show. Others have speculated that Lee Ji Ah is playing Shim Soo Ryeon’s identical twin, although others remain hopeful that it is Shim Soo Ryeon herself.
