Metallica, which plans to perform two shows in San Francisco next month exclusively for its fan club members, announced a week of live events throughout the city dubbed their “San Francisco Takeover” to mark the band’s 40th anniversary.

Artists who appeared on the recent “Metallica Blacklist” tribute album are slated to perform at venues throughout the city — with likely guest appearances by Metallica members — including White Reaper and Taipei Houston at August Hall on Dec. 16; the Wedding Band, Goodnight, Texas and Bastardane at the Fillmore on Dec. 17; and Kamasi Washington at August Hall on Dec. 18.

The legendary Bay Area metal band themselves are set to perform Dec. 17 and 19 at Chase Center.

Other events include a gallery show and signing for the a group’s new book “Metallica: The Black Album in Black & White,” featuring photos by Ross Halfin, a mini film festival at the Kabuki 8 AMC Theater and whiskey tastings highlighting Metallica’s own Blackened American Whiskey.

Tickets for all events go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, via Metallica’s website.

The band also announced a new archival project called the Metallica Black Box, in which band members will curate rare live concert footage, previously unreleased audio recordings and personal favorite artifacts from the band’s 40-year history, beginning with items that celebrate “The Black Album” for its 30th anniversary.
