Lisa from BLACKPINK has opened out about her highly awaited solo debut!
Lisa had an online press conference on September 10th, a few hours before the release of her first solo mini album, “LALISA.” During the press conference, the star admitted that the realization that she was finally making her long-awaited solo debut had taken a long time to sink in.
Lisa stated, “I keep feeling nervous, and I still can’t believe it.” Even as I was practicing the choreography, I wasn’t sure if it was really occurring, but once I started filming the music video, it became more real.”
“I’m ecstatic to be able to present my first solo performance, and I hope BLINKs [BLACKPINK fans] would approve,” she concluded. “This is my first solo album, and the title of the record is my name, ‘Lalisa,’ so it has a lot of significance for me. Thank you very much to the BLINKs who have been patiently waiting for my solo debut for so long. I put in a lot of effort to prepare.”
Lisa said why she chose the moniker “LALISA” for her album: “I wanted to convey the coolest aspect of myself through [the record].” I wanted to show myself exactly as I am, Lalisa, which is why I chose this title.”

“I wanted ‘Lalisa’ to have a Thai vibe to it,” Lisa said of the song and its music video, adding, “I wanted ‘Lalisa’ to have a Thai feel to it.” The set and clothes are also quite Thai-inspired.”
Teddy arranged the song in a Thai style when I mentioned I wanted to include a Thai vibe, and I was extremely touched,” she recounted. “I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. In the music video, I also wore Thai attire. I think the end outcome is really nice.”

“I wanted to expose a new aspect of myself, so during my album jacket shoot, I bared my forehead for the first time,” she explained. “Never before have my admirers seen me with my brow bared. I made up my mind and ultimately bared my forehead because I wanted to display something new.”
Lisa said of her B-side “Money,” “It’s a hip hop tune that everyone can love.” I knew I wanted to [be the one to] sing it as soon as I heard it.”
Lisa also revealed that her BLACKPINK bandmates had spent hours with her on the set of her song video to show their support.
“Jennie and Rosé both did amazing things [with their solo debuts], so I tried really hard to do the same,” Lisa remarked. “All of the other members came to my music video set to support me and stayed with me until the early morning hours. Their presence made me feel so much better.”

“Rather than focusing on rankings, I hope that people will see Lisa has this side to her as well,” Lisa said when asked what she intends to achieve with her solo debut. I’ll be glad if my songs and performances can make BLINKS happy.”
Lisa’s solo mini album “LALISA” will be released on September 10 at 1 p.m. KST, and she will play her first single “Lalisa” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on September 10 ET for the first time (September 11 KST).
